Contrast of Two Feasts

Matthew’s Gospel concentrates on the kingdom of God. We see two feasts in contrast in this passage: one with all that the world offers, and one that all that heaven offers.
One had opulence, power, and the lusts of the eye, the flesh and the pride of life
The other had the power of God through the agency of man.
We see the compassion of Jesus for the multitudes, extending a lesson on compassion for His disciples of all ages.
